Virtual Biology: Simulation modelling of plant physiology, ecology and evolution

Michaël Renton, University of Western Australia, School of Plant Biology

lundi 7 juillet 2008, 11 heures, salle de conférences de l'INRA

How do weeds evolve resistance to herbicides and what can we do to stop this happening? What makes a growing tree end up with a particular structural form? How is this form influenced by its environment and by its neighbours? How do genetics and hormonal signalling effect branching patterns in peas? How by does the interaction between seed ecology and management strategies affect weed species composition in a field? In this talk Dr Renton will show some examples of how simulation modelling can help us understand complex systems and thus address questions like these.
