Research areas

My research activities focus on the study of carbon and nitrogen transfers and transformations in biogeosystems and the link with global change. This research is structured around two axes:

- Quantification of greenhouse gas fluxes: CO2 and N2O emissions in soil and sediment.

- Characterisation and transformation of organic matter: the study of organic carbon dynamics in soil/sediment and in solution, related to carbon and nitrogen biogeochemical cycles.

 

For this research, I use and develop significant specific skills in stable isotope techniques (13C, 15N, 18O), especially the 13C and 15N labelling technique.

 

Keywords: soil, isotopic geochemistry, 15N, 13C, greenhouse gas, nitrous oxide, nitrification, denitrification, nitrogen and carbon cycles, organic matter, DOC, WEOC.

 

Analytical techniques

Stable isotopic geochemistry: mass spectrometry δ15N, δ13C and δ18O, isotopic dilution, isotopic analyses of gaseous and solid forms (minerals and organics).

Other techniques: gas chromatography, elemental analyses C and N, spectrophotometry, distillation of nitrogen mineral forms, atmospheric CO2 measurements and dissolved organic carbon.

 

Teaching experience

Université de Bourgogne, Dijon (France), in the Earth and Environmental Sciences Department (ETEC), around 250 hours/year from the 1st to the 5th year.
