Parasite-mediated behavioural manipulation: from mechanisms to evolution
The last 15 years have seen a lot of conceptual advances in the study of "host manipulation" by parasites. These advances led to an ever increasing set of empirical research on the adaptive nature of these phenomena. The aim of this session is to discuss some overlooked aspects of research on parasite-mediated behavioural manipulation, notably the underlying mechanisms on one side, and mathematical modelling on the other side. Advances on these two issues, together with empirical results on various aspects of the natural history of these host-parasite systems, could help to understand the evolution of parasite-mediated behavioural manipulation.
